Amenities and Local Attractions

At Buxton Oaks we offer our residents superb access to the best of Outer Banks.  We do this all while providing spacious lots and privacy that aren't found anywhere else on Hatteras Island. In addition to a community fish cleaning station and laundry room, we provide a spectacular view of Pamlico Sound and are across the street from the iconic Cape Hatteras Lighthouse. Buxton Oaks is situated just minutes away from excellent fishing, sight seeing., food/drink, and shopping.

Fishing:

• Cape Point (3.5 miles) - "The pinnacle of fishing on the Outer Banks...is and has always been Cape Point. Ask any long-time Hatteras Island fisherman about Cape Point, and they'll gladly tell you about incredible catches, near-misses, and the occasional vehicle getting stuck in the deep, shifting sands." • Cape Hatteras Lighthouse (<1 mile) - A nature preserve and historic lighthouse, this destination is a favorite of locals and visitors alike.

Food & Drink:

• Angelo's Pizza - (<1 miles) - Local pizzeria featuring classic pies and American Eats plus pool tables and arcade games

• Orange Blossom Bakery & Cafe - (<1 mile) - "Long-standing bakery in a converted motel serves famous "apple uglies," pastries & breakfast items." (via Google)

• Lighthouse Bar - (<1 mile) - Classic sports bar with food menu and laid back atmosphere. Walking distance from Buxton Oaks.

• Dillon's Corner Coffee Bar - (<1 mile) - A local "everything" store ranging from coffee & smoothies to bait, tackle, t-shirts, and more.

• Cool Wave Ice Cream - (<1 mile) - Because you can never have great ice cream close enough!

Shopping:

• Red Drum Tackle Shop - (<1 mile) - "Carry everything for the Sport Fisherman:  Bait, Ice, Tackle, Rod & Reel Repair, Custom Rods & Camping Supplies." (via RDTS website)

• Natural Art Sufe Shop - (2 miles) - Offering surf and watersport products since 1977.

Groceries:

• Both Connor's Market,  a local & independent grocer (and quite popular!) and a Dollar General are both under 1 mile from the park and easily accessible. There is also a Food Lion under 10 minutes away.
